U.S. FAA RECOGNIZES ARGENTINE OFFICIALS FOR THEIR COOPERATION ON AIR CARRIER SAFETY
July 27, 2006

A technical team from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration is visiting Argentina to provide technical assistance to local civil aviation authorities in the area of air carrier safety. Michael Rosenbaum, a Principal Operations Inspector with the FAA's Flight Standards Service, and Luis Thompson, a Principal Maintenance Inspector from the same office, also presented awards to Minister of Transportation Ricardo Jaime and Dr. Alejandro Orchansky, Vice President of the Organismo Regulador del Sistema Nacional de Aeropuertos, for their efforts in restoring Argentina to Category 1 flight status in November of 2005. The awards ceremony took place July 27 in Minister Jaime's office at the Ministry of Transportation. FAA officials from the Miami International Field office make regular visits to Argentina to help the country maintain its Category 1 status. Their principal work is to assist local inspectors in conducting certification and oversight of Argentina's air carriers.
