THOMAS SHANNON DESCRIBES RELATIONS WITH ARGENTINA AS “EXCELLENT”

Thomas Shannon, Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs, held a press conference January 12 at the U.S. Embassy in Buenos Aires. He discussed his visit to Argentina and his meetings with President Kirchner and Ministers Taiana, De Vido, Garré, and Miceli. Shannon characterized his visit as "productive and successful" and described U.S.-Argentine relations as "excellent." The Assistant Secretary also discussed the FTAA, the Summit of the Americas, Argentina's IMF repayment, the election of Evo Morales in Bolivia, U.S. investment in Argentina and a range of other issues.
