The FAAPI (Federation of Argentine Associations of English Language Teachers) 35th Convention took place in Cordoba on September 23-25, 2010, organized by ACPI (Asociacion Cordobesa de Profesores de Ingles). An audience of 1,200 EFL (English as a Foreign Language) teachers from all over Argentina and neighboring countries got together at this three day congress entitled “EFL & ART: Learning English with all our senses”. Prestigious international presenters from the US, Canada and Great Britain as well as local presenters discussed this multidisciplinary field, its possible classroom applications and the theoretical foundations of integrating artistic expressions in the EFL class.
The Public Affairs Section sponsored the FAAPI Conference providing financial support for editing the proceedings book for the first time in e-book format and had a joint venture stand along with IICANA (Binational Center Cordoba) Education USA Center. Many ACCESS Program scholars from IICANA offered their collaboration to set-up the stand and to deliver information material using the chance to practice their English. The numerous attendees at the FAAPI Convention, received information on the Embassy webpage and online resources for English language teachers and learners; the English Teaching Forum magazine and information on studies in the US opportunities and on intensive English Language Courses. The organizers, presenters and the Argentine English teaching community welcomed and thanked the US Embassy for supporting this successful convention once more.
