AMBASSADOR WAYNE SPEAKS ABOUT ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES IN ARGENTINA
February 23, 2009

Ambassador Wayne met on February 23 with executives representing 30 U.S. companies at a luncheon hosted by Ms. Virginia Weil, Sr. Managing Director of the prestigious Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU) in Washington, D.C.

Many of the companies that participated have long-standing relationships with Argentina and remain committed to the nation's success even through the difficult economic times facing both the United States and the global economy.

The afternoon was host to a lively discussion on the opportunities and challenges of doing business in Argentina as well as a question and answer session with the Ambassador. The audience expressed great pleasure in hearing about the important meeting last week between the Argentine Deputy Foreign Minister Victorio Taccetti and U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Inter-American Affairs, Thomas Shannon. The bilateral meeting was the first encounter between the U.S. Department of State and one of its Latin American neighbors since the Obama Administration took office last month.
