US ENGLISH LANGUAGE FELLOW ARRIVES IN CORDOBA
September 2008 - June 2009

The United States Embassy welcomed Dr. Martha Galloway, English Language Fellow, who will work with the Faculty of Languages, National University of Cordoba and IICANA (Binational Center in Cordoba).  After a briefing at the Embassy, Dr. Galloway traveled to Córdoba on September 17.

The English Language Fellow Program provides American professional expertise in teaching English as a foreign language by sending American experts on nine-month fellowships to overseas academic institutions.   The program main objectives are to advance the US Department's goal of mutual understanding; enhance English teaching capacity overseas in order to provide foreign teachers and students with the communications skills they will need to participate in the global economy and provide foreign teachers and students with information that will enable them better understand and convey concepts about American values, democratic representative government, free enterprise, and the rule of law.

The US Embassy in Buenos Aires is sponsoring, Dr. Martha Galloway, English Language Fellow, whose host institutions are the Faculty of Languages, National University of Cordoba and IICANA (Binational Center Cordoba).  Dr. Galloway has a Doctorate in Philosophy, Educational Psychology, with an Emphasis on Bilingual and ESL (English as a Second Language) Education, Texas A&M University, College Station, TX.  At present, she is Adjunct Associate Professor of TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages), Austin Community College.  She will be carrying out projects that deal with Teacher Training; In-Service and Pre-Service Training and Curriculum Development.
