Emergency and Urgent Humanitarian Travel
Applicants who need to travel to the United States urgently for humanitarian or other emergency reasons should first call the Visa Information Service to schedule an appointment. Follow the instructions for scheduling an appointment HERE.
If the scheduled appointment does not fit your emergency travel needs, you may request an expedited appointment by e-mailing HERE. Please note that you MUST have a scheduled appointment, in order to request an expedited appointment.
The Consular Section considers the following situations examples of those eligible to appy for expedited appointments:
- Humanitarian cases, including but not limited to travel for emergency medical treatment or to attend to family emergencies (such as death of immediate family members), as well as travel to support immediate family members receiving medical treatment or dealing with these emergencies
- Other emergency situations, such as responding to summons to appear in U.S. court.
Applicants should be prepared to present documentary evidence of the reason for their expedited appointment request. Relevant documentation should include a letter from a U.S. doctor or hospital with a brief explanation of the patient's condition or necessary medical treatment.
Please note that an expedited appointment in no way guarantees that the visa will be granted. Each applicant must qualify for a visa under U.S. Immigration Law. If issued, a visa normally will be printed on the same day and off-site delivery will be arranged through DHL delivery service for the following day. Occasionally, unforseen computer problems may delay visa printing.
