AMBASSADOR WAYNE VISITS THE 35th INTERNATIONAL BOOK FAIR BEFORE OFFICIAL OPENING
April 22, 2009

Ambassador Wayne was present on the premises of the "Rural" on April 22, where the 35th. International Book Fair will opens on April 23. The Ambassador visited the US Embassy's booth -- located at the Yellow Pavillion (no. 2122/2023, 35 Street between 8 and 10) -- which this year will focus on “Literature and Cinema in the US”. Novels that have been adapted to the big screen, cinema review books, film adaptation and children books will be exhibited. Also, images and words will come together in the projection of excerpts from movies based on literary works. With the celebration of the 200th anniversary of Edgar Allan Poe's birth this year, the booth will also pay tribute to this great American writer.

The Ambassador seized the opportunity to visit also the booths of a number of US companies present at the Fair representing the publishing industry, including Lonely Planet Publications, McGraw Hill, PGC – Publishers Communications Group, and Random House Mondadori (represented by Sudamericana); information and database services, like EBSCO; and writing instruments, such as Parker and Sanford.

“The American Embassy is proud to work with ¢Fundación El Libro¢ as an exhibitor at the Book Fair.  I'm thrilled to see American companies participating in the event with their ´booths´ and contributing to the exchange of information and ideas between both our countries,” commented Ambassador Wayne.
