Ambassador Wayne hosted an event on April 24 at his residence to distinguished cultural writers and journalists to renowned American writer Annie Proulx. Pulitzer-Prize winner and author of “Brockeback Mountain,” Annie Proulx has been invited by the Department of State to lecture at the 35th International Book Fair and at the Latin American Art Museum of Buenos Aires (MALBA).

“Annie Proulx is one of the greatest chroniclers of rural life in the United States. In both her short fiction and novels, she shows how human resilience is shaped in harsh, sometimes merciless, yet ultimately beautiful geographic outposts,” said Ambassador Wayne while introducing Annie Proulx to guest writers and journalists.

During the fascinating and warm event, the talented writer talked about her life as a writer and citizen of Wyoming. Annie shared her main interests on several aspects of her inspirations as fiction writer. She also shared her views on the work of making a book into a movie.

The guests had the chance of drawing parallels between Argentina and Annie Proulx’s writings on the United States and also compared certain aspects of a writer’s career in Argentina and the United States.

The encounter anticipated Annie Proulx’s presentation at the Book Fair.
