Ambassador Martinez visited the 9th annual EducationUSA Fair in Buenos Aires on September 6th. 2011.  The University Fair was organized by the Department of State and ICANA at the Sheraton Libertador Hotel in Buenos Aires.  Thirty US Universities participated this year, providing the over 700 visitors with information on study abroad opportunities such as intensive English courses; as well as undergraduate and graduate programs.  The Fulbright Commission provided information to Argentine students interested U.S. scholarships and the consular section of the U.S. Embassy in Buenos Aires provided student visa information, as well as the U.S. Embassy, thru the IRC provided information about Embassy programs and activities.

As the Ambassador toured the event, she conversed with U.S. university representatives and learned of their eagerness to recruit Argentine students.  ACCESS Program scholars volunteered to manage the information and reception desk and had the opportunity to learn more about study opportunities in the U.S.  The Ambassador also spoke to many young Argentines seeking information on future study opportunities in the US.  Many had been working to master English and shared high hopes with the Ambassador of going abroad to obtain a degree that would advance their careers and make a significant contribution to their future professional life.
