EMBASSY HOSTS U.S SPEAKER ON ENGLISH TEACHING AT THE 9TH SYMPOSIUM OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES, BUENOS AIRES INTERNATIONAL BOOK FAIR
May 3-7, 2006

U.S. Embassy Buenos Aires hosted Dr. Lynne Diaz-Rico, Professor of Education and coordinator of the M. A. in Education, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages program at California State University, San Bernardino. Her presentation on “Seven Billion Languages—Inter languages and Individual Learners” discussed how psychological and socio-cultural variables cause a wide range of individual differences--an astonishing variety in accents, vocabulary usage, and many other language characteristics. Inter-language represents the intermediate stage when a learner is acquiring a second language.

The Embassy in Buenos Aires will also host Dr. Diaz-Rico's lectures and workshops in Santiago del Estero in an effort to reach English teachers outside Buenos Aires.
