Tourism Seminar in Buenos Aires Highlights American Vacation Destinations
August 27, 2009
On August 27, representatives from the U.S. Embassy in Argentina organized a tourism seminar at the American Club in Buenos Aires. The event began with a presentation by Silvana Rodriguez from the Consular Section of the Embassy regarding the visa process for Argentines travelling to the United States. In her speech, Ms. Rodriguez said “The visa application process is much less complicated and scary than people think. It’s a very straight-forward and simple process. In fact, 95% of non-immigrant visas are approved in Argentina.” Attendees were advised to check the Embassy website for additional information and were also given a brochure explaining the visa application process.
The primary purpose of the Travel Show was to highlight American vacation destinations including Los Angeles, Tampa, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, as well as Puerto Rico. Alamo Rent-a-Car, Dollar Car Rental, Amtrak, and Hyatt staff also gave presentations about their respective products and services in the United States. Information booths and destination representatives were present ready to answer questions, and video and slide presentations showcased U.S. destinations to an audience over 120 travel agents, tour operators, and members of the media.
"Travel and tourism is bringing Argentina and the United States closer together. When Argentines travel to new and nontraditional destinations in the United States, we further deepen our bilateral relationship," Stated James Rigassio, Commercial Counselor for the U.S. Embassy in Argentina.
