AMBASSADOR WAYNE CONGRATULATES ARGENTINA FOR THE ORGANIZATION OF THE DAKAR RALLY RAID
Ambassador Wayne visited on January 2 the Dakar rally compound located in the Argentine Rural Society in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Palermo. The Ambassador congratulated Argentina through Argentina's Secretary of Tourism Enrique Meyer and Dakar rally raid coordinator Leonardo Boto Álvarez for being the co-host country of such an important worldwide and complex to organize event.
“The choice of Argentina for this major worldwide event shows the country is an important international tourist destination. Visitors will have the chance to admire Argentina´s geography and landscapes and enjoy the hospitality of the Argentine people". -- said Ambassador Wayne. “I wish American participants good luck”.
The Ambassador met some of the American pilots and teams participating in the rally and toured the place along Sarmiento Avenue. Sportsmen from the U.S. compete in three of the four categories, such as the Dakar USA Team, led by Robby Gordon racing in the car category with two Hummer H3 vehicles and other Americans members of important European teams like Mark Miller (Volkswagen).
“Events like this one provide wonderful opportunities to generate contacts and relations that bring people across the world closer together”, said Ambassador Wayne.
