Chargé d’Affaires Thomas Kelly hosted a group of kids from Casa Vela at the Daddy Yankee concert at Argentino Juniors Stadium on July 4th. The youth enjoyed a 15 minute private audience with the artist who talked animatedly with them about music and the importance of pursuing a goal with effort and dedication.
“It was great pleasure to share Daddy Yankee’s amusing music with this group of kids from Casa Vela. Daddy’s disposition to spend some time with the kids before his show was very emotive.  The event shows once more how the relation between our two peoples benefits from these artistic and cultural exchanges.” – said Chargé d’Affaires Thomas Kelly following the private audience with the artist.

About Daddy Yankee

After becoming the Godfather of reggeaton, Daddy Yankee, the Puerto Rican singer slowly morphs into a mogul, not only dominating music, but also breaking into acting, production, charitable causes, and business ventures. He never forgets where he came from; the impetus for starting his Fundacion Corazon Guerrero, a  non-for-profit that helps incarcerated youths find jobs and get back in school.

Yankee strongly believes in the power of youth and therefore uses his very public image to promote education, and important social campaigns like voting and public health.

Musically, he knows no bounds, having won several accolades, including: Latin Grammy, Billboard Latino, Lo Nuestro, and Premio Juventud. His last three albums, Barrio Fino, Barrio Fino en Directo and El Cartel The Big Boss have all been certified the top-selling albums in any Spanish-music category.
