REMARKS BY AMBASSADOR VILMA MARTINEZ FOR THE COCHRAN FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM RECEPTION
September 23, 2009
Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen.
It is a great pleasure for me to host you this afternoon.
It’s a true honor to host the participants of the Cochran Fellowship Program, a program that is administered by the Department of Agriculture of the United States and that has recently completed its 25th anniversary since its creation and implementation in many countries around the world.
This program started in Argentina in 2000, and to date it has provided training for 85 Argentine professionals in different fields related to agricultural and food production activities. As such, it serves to strengthen relations between the United States and Argentina, both in the public and private sectors.
With just a few days since my arrival in Argentina, I am pleased to have this first contact with the local agricultural sector, which plays such an important role in this country’s economy. I thank you all for your presence here today and I wish you a pleasant afternoon.
