Ambassador Wayne Meets Mendoza Governor Celso Jaque

Ambassador Wayne met with Mendoza Governor Celso Jaque on February 12. During the meeting, the two officials discussed the successful cultural and educational exchange agreements between Mendoza province and the U.S. Embassy in Buenos Aires, in addition to future projects aimed at expanding these programs during the year. "We are working very hard to expand our teaching programs for disadvantaged Mendoza students, which we hope to accomplish later this year," Ambassador Wayne said.
Governor Jaque updated the Ambassador on major actions in the province, such as cultural exchanges, the impact of the international financial crisis on local agricultural activities and the efforts of his government to mitigate it, and security related isues. On this area, Governor Jaque highlighted the close cooperation provided by DEA to provincial police and law enforcement agencies. They also discussed the Governor’s upcoming visit to the United States.
‘From the Embassy, with the new administration of President Obama, we continue working closely with provincial authorities in the opening of new opportunities for cooperation,” said the Ambassador.
