AMBASSADOR WAYNE PRAISES CENTER OF AMERICAN STUDIES EFFORTS TO PROMOTE MUTUAL UNDERSTANDING

Ambassador Wayne was the Guest of Honor at the Center of American Studies (CEA) annual dinner on March 12, organized at the American Club. The Ambassador and Mrs. Wayne were received by Mr. Luis Maria Savino, President of CEA, and shared an enjoyable evening with over 160 academics, researchers, students, politicians and journalists.
Ambassador Wayne presented honors to the participants of the election year US Studies Program in 2008. He highlighted the Center of American Studies constant work over two decades in the field of research and dissemination of knowledge about the United States, its society, culture, politics and institutions.
Ambassador Wayne highlighted the challenges met by CEA during the election year in 2008, with a worthy slate of activities, including two trips for select groups of Argentine leaders who had an excellent opportunity to gain a truer understanding of the US political system, and the publication of a book on the US elections in October 2007. These activities were very important achievements that show CEA’sustained commitment to promote learning and research on US democracy in Argentina at the highest academic levels.
“CEA is an outstanding institution that contributes a great deal to spreading knowledge about what the US really is, which in turn strengthens mutual understanding and friendship among the people of our countries,” Ambassador Wayne stressed.
