Speaker in Youth Leadership for At-Risk Communities Lectures in Bs As and Jujuy

Invited by the Embassy, Juan Casimiro, President and Founder of the Casimiro Foundation, a youth development organization that helps fund college scholarships, global exchange internships and social ventures in marginalized communities in developing nations, lectured in Buenos Aires and Jujuy on Youth Leadership for at-risk communities, on August 4-8.

In Buenos Aires, Mr. Casimiro participated in a one-day seminar organized by the Office of Social Inclusion of the Ministry of Education of the City of Buenos Aires.  The seminar, which was divided in three sessions, included participants from the Ministry, public and private schools, NGOs and general public.  Topics addressed by Mr. Casimiro included: concepts of leadership, methods and best practices in designing successful youth programs, techniques for how to build community youth leaders, how to create programs that result in a long term community investment in youth, how to build a partnership between youth and the local community focusing on innovative programs for at-risk youth, among others.

In Lomas de Zamora, he conducted a three hour workshop for youths.  In a session that included several activities, Mr. Casimiro addressed the following topics: my first job, basic concepts of leadership, how to start a successful businesses, how to organize a model business plan and find people and organizations willing to finance new ideas, and others.

These seminars and lectures were also carried on in the city of San Salvador de Jujuy and Tilcara.  At an event organized by the cultural center CulturArte, Mr. Casimiro addressed and audience of over 100 participants.  In Tilcara, the city government organized a one-day seminar with sessions specifically designed for NGOs and community leaders, and another one for students.

In addition to his training for youths, Mr. Casimiro took the opportunity in Buenos Aires and in Abra Pampa, Jujuy to meet with women entrepreneurs.   In Buenos Aires, 20 women from the association Mujeres 2000 participated in a two-hour training session.  In Abra Pampa, Mr. Casimiro offered a conference for over 80 indigenous women entrepreneurs who are members of the Warmi Association.
