Chargé D'affaires Receives Young Argentine Student Who Won The First Annual Global Spellevent Championship for Non- Native Speakers of English With “Bizarre”

Thomas Kelly met with Clara Sofia Brunetto

Chargé d'Affaires Thomas Kelly met on August 25 with Clara Sofia Brunetto, a young Argentine secondary student, who was the grand prize winner of the first Global SpellEvent Championship for non-native speakers of English in New York on August 10.

This event brought together regional champions from seven different countries to participate in an international spelling bee.  Clara Sofia won the championship trophy, as well as a scholarship check for $10,000 USD to purse future studies.

To recognize this noteworthy accomplishment, Chargé d'Affaires Thomas P. Kelly presented Clara Sofia with a copy of the Encyclopedia of Word and Phrase Origins.
