| School 329 students receiving books |
Eight-year-old Silvana of Bariloche wanted to know what kids study in schools in the United States. Her classmates at Escuela 329, El Pilar II were curious which animals live in that mysterious North American country. Lions? Crocodiles? Elephants? Consul Rosemary Macray and Consular Specialist Alexandra Castellanos answered these and many other questions from about 30 eager learners during a November 30 visit to the rural school. The Embassy representatives visited the school to present a collection of classic children’s books by American authors. About 80 children, ages 4 to 12, attend the rural school. According to school director, Alfonso Tortora, many of their parents work in the nearby Basural de Bariloche. The team was in Bariloche to provide U.S. consular services and establish contact with officials who assist American citizen tourists.
