U.S. ATTORNEY GENERAL GONZALES HIGHLIGHTS BILATERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT COOPERATION AND VISITS AMIA

US Attorney General Alberto Gonzales visited Argentina February 6-7 as part of a regional tour that included a stop in El Salvador and an upcoming visit to Brazil. During meetings with Argentina’s ministers of Justice and Interior, Alberto Iribarne and Anibal Fernandez, and Prosecutor General Esteban Righi, Gonzales expressed appreciation for Argentina’s close cooperation on law enforcement, counter narcotics and counter terrorism. The Attorney General also visited the headquarters of the AMIA Jewish community center, where he met with Jewish leaders and laid a wreath at the memorial for the 85 victims of the 1994 bombing.
