US Speaker Program in English Language Teaching at The Share Convention in Bs. As and at Aricana

Dr. Else Hamayan, former Director of the Illinois Resource Center in Arlington Heights, Illinois, was the Keynote Speaker at the Share Convention 2009 in Buenos Aires on July 30-31. Her presentations on: “Getting Students Hooked on Reading & Writing” and on “Making Language Learning more Fun,” were attended by over 500 English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teachers, teacher trainers and students from private and public language institutions from all over Argentina.
The US Embassy, ICANA (Binational Center Buenos Aires) and ARTESOL (Argentina Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) had a joint stand at the SHARE Convention in Buenos Aires to promote exchange programs, English Language courses and information about the next ARTESOL Convention, which will be held at the end of August at the National University of La Pampa. English Language and IIP material were given to the attendees.
On August 3, Dr. Hamayan gave a public lecture at ARICANA (Binacional Center Rosario) on “Literacy Instruction: From Research to Practice.” On August 4, she addressed a workshop on “Making Connections in Language Teaching: Tying Reading and Writing Together.” EFL teachers, teacher trainers, ARICANA (Binacional Center Rosario) teaching staff and EFL teachers from the nearby BNCs (Santa Fe, Parana and Santiago del Estero) praised Dr. Hamayan´s vast experience in the English teaching field and her outstanding presentation skills. All attendees participated in a greatly appreciated raffle of English teaching materials.
