AMBASSADOR MARTINEZ MAKES HER FIRST TRIP TO THE HEAD OF CABINET
October 23, 2009

Ambassador Vilma Martinez and the Chief of Staff, Anibal Fernandez, exchanged views on the strong bilateral ties between the U.S. and Argentina, while evaluating the various areas of practical cooperation, including issues of health, education, economic growth and protection of the environment, during the Ambassador’s first visit to the Chief of Staff on October 23. They agreed on the importance of joint actions against the scourge of human trafficking and drug trafficking. Ambassador Martinez stressed the importance of strengthening ties between national governments and legislatures and judiciaries of both countries. She also thanked the Chief of Staff for his efforts to forge even closer ties between Argentina and the United States.

"It was an honor to share with the Chief of Cabinet President Obama's commitment to a strong bilateral relationship, built on common interests to both nations, such as democracy, human rights, sustainable economic growth and policies of social inclusion, “ said Ambassador Martinez.  "I also shared with Mr. Chief of Staff my interest in increasing tangible collaboration between the various ministries of our governments."
