Ambassador Wayne met on January 28 with Minister of Justice, Security and Human Rights Anibal Fernandez, at Ministry headquarters. The Minister and the Ambassador advanced the rich bilateral and multilateral cooperation agenda shared by Argentina and the United States in the fight against terrorism, drug trafficking, human trafficking and money laundering/currency smuggling. They also talked about several cooperative projects for exchanges and training on a wide range of security and judicial issues between Argentina and the United States.

The Minister and the Ambassador also discussed the scourge of child pornography and agreed to explore possibilities for exchange programs with experts from both countries to share experiences in order to improve the fight against this crime.

“Public security is a priority in the new administration’s agenda with regional neighbors. Minister Fernandez and I had a strategic talk on this issue. We reiterated our commitment to joint cooperation in the fight against terrorism, drug trafficking, human trafficking, money laundering and currency smuggling. We also agreed to expand cooperation on exchanges and training in law enforcement related issues,” said Ambassador Wayne.
