AMBASSADOR MARTINEZ MEETS WITH THE ECONOMY MINISTER, AMADO BOUDOU
November 3, 2009

Ambassador Vilma Martinez met on November 3rd with Economy Minister, Amado Bodou, in the Ministry’s office.  This was their first meeting  part of a round of courtesy calls that the Ambassador is making after  presenting her credentials.

The Ambassador and the Minister spoke about the prominent points on the bilateral economic agenda of Argentina and the United States, among them, the common interest to increase U.S. investments in the country and to work together to normalize the relationship between Argentina and its creditors, after the recent announcements from the Argentine government regarding normalizing the relationship with bondholders of Argentine debt who did not participate in the restructuring of 2005.

“We support the government’s efforts to return to the international capital market, including the initiative to solve the problem of the bondholders who did not participate in the exchange of 2005, " Ambassador Martinez said.

"We agree with Minister Boudou that by working together we can promote greater U.S. investment in Argentina that will generate new jobs that require qualifications, taking advantage of the excellent quality of the Argentine workforce,” stated the Ambassador at the end of the meeting.
