Reception for the Fundacion ALFA

Reception for the Fundacion ALFA

On the occasion of a reception for the Fundacion ALFA, Ambassador Wayne highlighted the fact that Argentina has become one of the top 12 destinations in the world for U.S. students studying abroad.  In his remarks the Ambassador praised ALFA, which brings together Argentine alumni of foreign universities, for their efforts to support greater academic exchange between Argentina and the United States.  He noted “Education and exchanges build lasting, intellectual, institutional, and personal ties that spread knowledge, enhance cross-cultural understanding, and build friendships between nations.”  He urged his guests to work with the Embassy to increase opportunities for Argentine students to study in the United States.

Mr. Javier Firpo, president of Fundación ALFA, an organization that represents over 200 foreign university alumni clubs with over 5,000 members in Argentina and abroad, thanked Ambassador Wayne for his hospitality and promised to continue working to create ties of cooperation between students and professionals from Argentina and the world.
