Chargé d'Affaires Thomas P. Kelly met with recently appointed Minister of Justice, Security, and Human Rights Julio Cesar Alak for the first time on July 21.
Chargé d'Affaires Thomas P. Kelly met with recently appointed Minister of Justice, Security, and Human Rights Julio Cesar Alak for the first time on July 21.
“Minister Alak and I discussed the vast array of cooperation between Argentina and the U.S. in areas under the jurisdiction of the Minsitry, which include the fight against transnational organized crime and connected crimes such as drug and human trafficking, and terrorism. We also reviewed all of our programs to train Argentina's security forces and improve information-sharing with Argentina and other countries in the region in an effort to promote effective regional cooperation to combat these terrible scourges that threaten humanity," Mr. Kelly stated.
Mr. Kelly wished Minister Alak success in his new position and assured him that the U.S. government will continue to work closely with the Ministry to deepen and expand bilateral law enforcement cooperation.
