REMARKS BY AMBASSADOR WAYNE AT AMERICAN AIRLINES INAUGURATION OF THEIR FLIGHT TO CHICAGO
December 14, 2007

I am very happy to be here today with our very good friends Sergio Hurtado and Domenico Matinata of American Airlines to celebrate the inauguration of the first flight from Argentina to the U.S. since our two governments signed a new aviation accord five months ago.

The Civil Aviation Agreement that Minister Taiana signed in July 2007 represents joint cooperation to boost travel and tourism between the two countries.

I want to congratulate American Airlines on the opening of this first flight to Chicago.  Chicago, known as the Windy City, is the home of one of the largest commercial regions in the world and growing.  Chicago has more than 200,000 companies.  Hundreds of multinational companies that have come to the U.S. have established sites in Chicago, an ideal place for their activities.  Besides, the city has the largest number of world class meetings and conventions at its impressive McCormick Place Convention Center.

Again, I congratulate American Airlines for their flight Buenos Aires – Chicago!
